High Desert Publishing, LLC, Santa Fe, New Mexico
Developed and Publisher of a National medical publication, Great Sleep Magazine. Created, managed and participated in all facets of the business, including administration, sales and marketing, production, distribution, and creative. Recruited, hired and supervised a professional staff of writers, editors, and sales personnel. Supervised sales department, production and distribution of magazines. Heavily involved in the pharmaceutical industry, and sleep disorder product manufacturers and distributors.
Cocoon Interactive, LLC, Knoxville TN
Created and developed an innovative working web-site model to allow advertisers (clients) to interact with customers. The program is specifically designed to work with printed matter. The program offers 7 communication facets on the interactive program. A client can cursor through a picture or advertisement and see or hear any of the following: pop-up box with name-address-phone number, a direct link to client web-site, an email address, a 30 second audio commercial (which can be changed daily), a 30 second audio-visual commercial (buffered in real time), a “Call Button” where the customer inserts their phone number, presses “call” which dials the client’s phone and returns the customers call immediately, will text customers a coupon that can be redeemed at store location or internet. Media Coordinator, instrumental in development of touch screen implementation for in-cab entertainment. Coordinated television and premium channel satellite service, negotiated with companies for server placement for movies, entertainment, and education, and negotiated with international movie distributors for rights and scheduling of screenings of first run movies.
Main Street Communications, Knoxville TN
Publisher/owner. Launched several publications, including Highway Bound, the first nationally distributed magazine devoted to transportation education. This publication filled a niche by helping prepare trucking professionals for their new career on the road. Also created Nursing Bound, another nationally distributed publication targeting the nursing school students, Careers in Trucking, the first trucking publication for state unemployment offices, workforce development offices, and military bases, and The American Trucking Wage & Benefit Survey. These magazines were primarily recruiting tools, and were exclusively funded through advertising revenue. Managed and participated in all facets of the business ranging from administration, sales and marketing, production, distribution, and creative. The publications were sold and are still in existence today.
